Immigration Christian vs Secular Conservatism

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Recently the Portland Tribune ran a story What would Jesus do about immigrants? I agree with most of the article that a middle way solution to the immigration issue need to be found; a solution between absolute amnesty on the left and absolute restrictionism on the right. A solution that respects that we are we are all created in the image of God, and respect the clear scriptural teaching and strangers among us.
Leviticus 19:33-34 (NKJV)

33‘And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. 34The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

What I have found disturbing was the flippant response by Jim Ludwick of Oregon Oregonians for Immigration Reform hen he said “To be very crass about it, they’re looking for members, and I think that’s partly what’s driving it.”

I find Mr  Ludwicjk comment  insulting to Christians. Our motivation is not numbers but our duty to follow Christ revealed and commanded in scriptures.

This incident with Ludwick should give concern Christian cultural conservatives who we allow to influence our political beliefs. Mr. Ludwick statement raises my own awareness that even in Conservatism there are differences of worldview of religious and secular conservatives.  On the religious conservative side, there is the Judeo Christian ethic that we all are God creation and our rights and liberties com not from  the consensus of man but from God. Even the verse Leviticus 19:33-34 conveys the ideas of right from God. Israel shall not mistreat the stranger and to be to Israel as one born among them; Why, because the stranger is a special creation of God.  Contrast that to the secular view of protecting secular institutions for the reasons of national sovereignty, entitlement  Ie job only belong to Americans , and conservative political power ( the immigrant tend  to vote democrat). To protect these intuitions even if conservative actions violate  the rights to immigrants that comes from God.

As I listen to conservative talk radios show host or the Tea Party We need to be caution and discerning that we do not compromise our faith in Christ by following the influences of secular cultural conservatism.

Employers on Strike, Is Atlas Shrugging?

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

This period of joblessness is the worst I ever had. Last year, seven months was bad but this was the weirdest period of unemployment. Last year was a single contact this year In the way of work I had three one-day contacts and one five-day contact.

Three jobs I had start dates were canceled 24 hours before start time.
Two jobs I applied for I told I was no longer in contention, not because somebody else got the job but the company decided not to fill the position.

I may have found the reason. WSJ reported in an article Employers on Strike, with uncertainty of ObamaCare and looming tax hikes companies are sitting on the cash.

“Almost everything Congress has done in recent months has made private businesses less inclined to hire new workers. ObamaCare imposes new taxes and mandates on private employers. Even with record unemployment, Congress raised the minimum wage to $7.25, pricing more workers out of jobs. The teen unemployment rate rose to 26.4% in May, and for those between the ages of 25 and 34 it rose to 10.5%. These should be some of the first to be hired in an expansion because they are relatively cheap and have the potential for large productivity gains as they add skills.”

As a result, the Obama economic meddling is hurting the ones they claim to help. The Unemployed like me. We all should remember this in November.

Doing Jobs Americans Will Not

What is going on here?  A Brewster Washington farmer is flying in 300 Jamaican farm workers to pick crops. The issue started during an INS paper check forcing the farmer to let go hundreds of Mexican workers. Conservative statist commentators were dancing in the street that now the farmer forced against his property rights, has to hire real American workers at around $11.00 dollars an hour plus room and board and transportation, not a bad deal for an unemployed native worker.  The farmer tired and the result was no takers. Needing to find workers, he had to look elsewhere.  I do not blame the farmer, he played by the rules.

Ron Paul and the Tea Party a Sad Match

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

The video vindicate me in why I decided not to participate in any Tea Party events.
His reliance conspiracies and his paranoia dose not demonstrate he is control of his faculties. The ways he presents himself at the Tea Party remind more of the crazy uncle not somebody who I want as a leader of this country and control of the nuclear trigger.

Mr. Pall Contradict himself. If the role of government is to protect our liberties then why projecting our military strength to is such a bad thing. In my opinion, One cannot have a strong defense unless on is willing to project it. Have we not learned the lessons of 7 December 1941 and repeated 11 September 2001? We do not live in a bubble. One element of military strength is the ability to project it in order to protect American interest. Military power does no good locked up in a warehouse in Georgia. Military force need to project to be effective. The lesson of 7 Dec 1941 and 11 Sept 2001 is one projects force to prevent the barbarian from forming in the first place, not waiting until the barbarian are at your gate.
Another older blog shows MR Paul lack of grasp on foreign affairs and military action

“RP: No, I would come home, unless there was specific knowledge of where Osama bin Laden was. Then I send out just a small team of people to take care of him. I would not maintain the occupation of Afghanistan. That was mainly motivated by oil pipelines and some other things that are never discussed.”
A small team would had been quickly discovered and eliminated in Taliban held Afghanistan It would be like parachuting a team in 1941 to kill Hitler and think that would end World War Two. In order to get to Osama we had the defeat the Taliban.
