I Have Tasted Forbidden Fruit And It Was OK.

Friday, April 30th, 2010

On an Internet fan made show I watch, the subject of KFC double down came up. The cast panned the sandwich with many catcalls with much reference to clogged arteries and heart attacks. I also had seen similar reports on network news shows. With all the commotion over a sandwich, I took it onto myself to have one for lunch. My verdict: not bad but noting to write home about and not worth all the hype emanating from self-righteous food critics.

This has me thinking, why allure of high calorie foods like the Double Down or the Heart Attack Grill. My theory is, in our hearts, we do not like nannies and naggers. Today we cannot escape it; open any newspaper, watch any newscast and one maybe told  how we are slowly killing ourselves by what we eat. We witness a parade a never ending modern day Carrie Nation Prohibitionist of food, with hatchets and studies in hand, nagging and scold us over the sin of high fat, sugar and salt. For some of us, food like the Double Down becomes our hooch and the Heat Attach Grill our speakeasy; a place  we can escape to enjoy the indulgence  of forbidden fruit and tell the busybodies to shove off and go pack sand with every bite.

Ron Paul and the Tea Party a Sad Match

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

The video vindicate me in why I decided not to participate in any Tea Party events.
His reliance conspiracies and his paranoia dose not demonstrate he is control of his faculties. The ways he presents himself at the Tea Party remind more of the crazy uncle not somebody who I want as a leader of this country and control of the nuclear trigger.

Mr. Pall Contradict himself. If the role of government is to protect our liberties then why projecting our military strength to is such a bad thing. In my opinion, One cannot have a strong defense unless on is willing to project it. Have we not learned the lessons of 7 December 1941 and repeated 11 September 2001? We do not live in a bubble. One element of military strength is the ability to project it in order to protect American interest. Military power does no good locked up in a warehouse in Georgia. Military force need to project to be effective. The lesson of 7 Dec 1941 and 11 Sept 2001 is one projects force to prevent the barbarian from forming in the first place, not waiting until the barbarian are at your gate.
Another older blog shows MR Paul lack of grasp on foreign affairs and military action

“RP: No, I would come home, unless there was specific knowledge of where Osama bin Laden was. Then I send out just a small team of people to take care of him. I would not maintain the occupation of Afghanistan. That was mainly motivated by oil pipelines and some other things that are never discussed.”
A small team would had been quickly discovered and eliminated in Taliban held Afghanistan It would be like parachuting a team in 1941 to kill Hitler and think that would end World War Two. In order to get to Osama we had the defeat the Taliban.

Return to then Bus

My days as a mass transit commuter in Portland’s and why I never want to return.

My miss adventure started last Saturday when my Truck alternator died. Not having the money at that time, I know I was going to ride he bus for the foreseeable time.

While some thing changed from 2001 when I decided to forsake New Urbanism political and Environmental correct statistism for the freedom of transporting myself. Some good occurred online tracking still mass transit is not an efficient use of time and resources. For example, my old job was a 12-mile round trip commute. It cost me $2.47 (2.89 per gallon) and 40 minutes round trip. Now let look at Trimet. It cost anywhere from $4.00 (single daily ticket) to $3.75 (monthly pass) and takes 1Hr 30Min round trip. Now let look at a Sunday trip to church. Using my tuck, it is a 40Mi trip at $8.46 in gas; Trimet wins on price. On the other hand, Trimet looses big time on transportation time. It takes a whopping 5 hours per round. I leave at 7:00am and will not be at home until 2:30pm. I can drive to Tacoma WA and mot of the way back in five hours.
