Time to catch up on my convention going post.\u00a0 Last two months I as attended both Kumoricon mini-con and Newcon Mini-con. Both were at the \u00a0Lloyd\u2019s \u00a0Center Doubletree Inn.<\/p>\n

Kumoricon\u2019s mini-con was held on 27 June 2015, at\u00a0 the Infamous\u00a0 Exhibitor\u2019s Hall, know for it poor ventilation, during Portland\u2019s \u00a0heat wave. It was \u00a0hot and stuffy yet everybody was in good spirits.\u00a0 The hall was section off\u00a0 into lounge, cosplay \/ karaoke\u00a0 stage , video area, games, art \u00a0and manga \u00a0library. Guy did the video area and set up his ham radio.\u00a0 The convention \u00a0was also a way to test\u00a0 the new registration \u00a0system. Judging by the long wait Kumoricon still need to work out the kinks. \u00a0\u00a0I stayed\u00a0 at the con space until chased us away\u00a0 at 10:00pm.<\/p>\n
There was\u00a0 the Portland\u00a0 International l Beerfest \u00a0at the park next to\u00a0 the hotel. Normally \u00a0I askew beer festivals hearing \u00a0how Oregon Brewers Festivals\u00a0 reputation for being crowded and long lines for beer. Seeing nether\u00a0 I use the festival as a reprieve form the stuffiness of the con space, sampling\u00a0 various IPA beers. I am fond\u00a0 of a good \u00a0Imperial Pale Ale.<\/p>\n
Newcon\u2019s\u00a0 Mini-con was held on July 25, 2015\u00a0 but using the upstairs meeting rooms. They had a main stage, panel room and dealers\u2019 \u00a0den.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0The was not much in the way of panes that interested me,\u00a0 a little too much\u00a0 in the way of anime. Still there is some hope\u00a0 as it was announced how the big\u00a0 Newcon cosplay contest is open to other media outside Japanese Anime, including games, American cartoons,\u00a0 movies and more.\u00a0 Still I had a great time until we were chased out at 10:00pm.<\/p>\n
One thing was a mission any friend \u00a0who was\u00a0 the missionary in charge at the Christian Serviceman\u2019s Center, in \u00a0Yokosuka Japan, who I haven\u2019t seen since\u00a0 1988 visited me. We met at the hotel during Newcon\u2019s mini-con; he was amused\u00a0 at all the cosplay.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
