The Convention: Furlandia<\/p>\n
The Theme :\u00a0 1850 Age of Industry<\/p>\n

The Dates May 27-29 2016<\/p>\n
With the demise of Rainfurrest, Furlandia has become the premier NW corridor Furry convention. The theme\u00a0 was\u00a0\u00a0 1850 Age of Industry;\u00a0 the con says it was not\u00a0 exactly\u00a0 Steam Punk but\u00a0 the number of panels\u00a0 introducing furries to Steampunk\u00a0 and\u00a0 the number of furs\u00a0 with goggles and costumes \u00a0shows\u00a0 the convention has a Steampunk\u00a0 feel to it.<\/p>\n
Both by Giant Hello Kitties and Chocoact were my companions.<\/p>\n

Friday: \u00a0My chances to volunteer fell\u00a0 apart so I had the con\u00a0 for myself. \u00a0Like to may furcons , I felt the panel variety was sparse.\u00a0 I still\u00a0 enjoyed\u00a0 the Seven Steam Punk fallacies presentation. Other than that, it was meeting\u00a0 up with old friends before \u00a0calling it a day.<\/p>\n
Saturday:\u00a0 After my traditional\u00a0 breakfast fill up at\u00a0 Hometown Buffet, I arrived and cruised around the\u00a0 convention until the Steampunk moding for wimps, \u00a0then\u00a0 Rainfurrest town hall to get another\u00a0 side of Rainfurrest downfall and\u00a0 plans for a return. I caught\u00a0 the preliminary round of the\u00a0 Fursuit dance contest. Furlandia tried something\u00a0 new when the convention split the dace completion into a preliminary and final rounds. I have to say it was\u00a0 the best fursuit dance contest\u00a0 I seen. This is because more than dubstep (folk and J-pop\u00a0 was represented) and the dancers used their feet. It was not all\u00a0 popping hand motion with paws \u00a0planted to the dance floor as if boat anchors were tied to them.\u00a0 I drove a new friend to pick up some food at\u00a0 Panda Express,\u00a0 then\u00a0 met a another\u00a0 Christian fur for some\u00a0 discussion. I checked out the dace and\u00a0 went home.<\/p>\n
Sunday:\u00a0 I had lunch at the church so I missed the\u00a0 fursuit\u00a0 dance finals. I set up for\u00a0 my\u00a0 Greymuzzle panel .\u00a0 The panel was at 1:00pm.\u00a0 I only had 12\u00a0 people or so\u00a0 but it seems to me the\u00a0 low 20\u2019s is the average panel attendance at Furlandia.\u00a0 It\u00a0 did not help part the panel time was opposite of the Fursuit dace competition finals.\u00a0 I did gain a few attendees\u00a0 after the contest ended.\u00a0 I am still calling it a success<\/p>\n
One word for the wise for bout running a panel for older anime fans and\u00a0 gremmuzzles:\u00a0 one hour is not enough.<\/p>\n
The \u00a0rest of the time I attended the Thrifting Your Way to a Steampunk wardrobe. and Dramatic Furry Drawing.\u00a0 After than it was the closing ceremony then final goodbyes before\u00a0 calling it a convention, head home and drown \u00a0my PCD in curry rice and anime.<\/p>\n

The Good:\u00a0 the dance completion preliminaries. Also kudos\u00a0 goes out to Diana Vick who went out beyond the call of duty introducing Steampunk to the furry fandom\u00a0 at her panels at Furlandia.<\/p>\n

The bad: need more panels.<\/p>\n
The Ugly: nothing.<\/p>\n
For a while I was concerned\u00a0 how\u00a0 Furlandia will handle the influx\u00a0 because\u00a0 of\u00a0 Rainfurrest\u00a0 demise and the fear the same troublemakers would come down to Furlandia.\u00a0 Furlandia has\u00a0 increased it numbers from 463 to 763 attendees numbers. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I suspect\u00a0 next year the challenge will be greater, noting Gene\u2019s Armstrong \u00a0plan to scale back and cap the attendance Rainfurrest. (I head this form him at the Rainfurrest Town Hall) I believe \u00a0Rainfurrest will meet the challenge and Lord willing I will be\u00a0 attending.<\/p>\n
