Kumoricon is Oregon\u2019s premier Anime Convention. Both\u00a0 Kiju \u00a0Hello Kitties and\u00a0 Chococat were my companions .<\/p>\n
Thursday and Friday:\u00a0 I picked up my badge on Thursday. I decided this year to take Friday off\u00a0 to attend the convention, but first I had to see the doctor for a follow up appointment and\u00a0 by the time picked up the car rental, it was already 11:00 am. I had lunch and made it over to the convention site.<\/p>\n

I missed opening ceremonies but\u00a0 caught Todd Haberkorn Presents: MST-Anime Style. After than I\u00a0 did some shopping\u00a0 and\u00a0 settled\u00a0 down for the AMV contest. It was good\u00a0 show and had a few standouts. I stayed for the after show\u00a0 then went out for dinner.\u00a0 I came back checked out\u00a0 a few songs by the\u00a0 musical guest of honor Kra. There was nothing\u00a0 but 18+ panels so I called it a day and went home.<\/p>\n
Saturday: \u00a0I had my Breakfast out and headed \u00a0back to the convention\u00a0 center. I checked out the\u00a0 Funimation Industry Panel and\u00a0 just hung around until Meet Vic Mignogna event. I wanted\u00a0 to ask how he deals \u00a0with\u00a0 being\u00a0 a Christian\u00a0 and\u00a0 in the anime industry, but it was hard to get noticed in a room of screaming fans. I fan who shared how\u00a0 Full Metal Alchemist help her going through\u00a0 a Kidney Transplant; at that time I knew\u00a0 it was not the place to ask my question, \u00a0and perhaps\u00a0 not\u00a0 at a celebrity\u00a0 panel.\u00a0\u00a0 I skipped out of\u00a0 the\u00a0 seeing the Cosplay Contest this year, instead\u00a0 I attended the name\u00a0 alone Battlesaurs with Grant and Studio Trigger. Studio Trigger\u00a0 cooperated\u00a0 with Pixar for it s Christmas special Toy Story T<\/em><\/strong>oy Story That Time Forgot. They came up\u00a0 with\u00a0 an opening\u00a0 for a fictitious\u00a0 show about Dinosaur Toys that was pure Trigger. It was\u00a0 interesting\u00a0 how both\u00a0 worked\u00a0 out cross-cultural issues.<\/p>\n After the panel, I hung around, head out to dinner and ran into the musical guest of honor at a local BBQ joint , did\u00a0 some drawing and\u00a0 made my presence know at the\u00a0 Often Renamed panel. The call it a day.<\/p>\n Sunday: I hosted\u00a0 the\u00a0 Otaku 25+ panel; we had a good turnout.\u00a0 After my panel,\u00a0\u00a0 I attended and AMV comedy hour\u00a0 then hung around until the seating for the AMV winners and\u00a0 closing ceremonies.<\/p>\n The Good:\u00a0 Battlesaurs with Grant and Studio Trigger<\/p>\n The bad: The band Kra should have got\u00a0 a nod at the closing ceremonies.<\/p>\n The Ugly: Nothing<\/p>\n With so much to do, Kumoricon is the best\u00a0 fan convention\u00a0 in Portland Oregon; Furlandia is second.
