She gave a\u00a0history\u00a0of Hello Kitty and Sanrio noting sales slowed in the in 80&#8217;s \u00a0after the\u00a0initial\u00a0released\u00a0in 1970,s. While\u00a0there\u00a0are other\u00a0reasons for the decline, resulting in\u00a0hiring of\u00a0Yuko Yamaguch.<\/p>\n<p>When \u00a0there was an up tick\u00a0\u00a0of sales, founder\u00a0Shintaro Tsuji did marketing research, and noted young\u00a0women who were fans as children were buying\u00a0items\u00a0for\u00a0their\u00a0children. Mr. Tsuji a\u00a0decision\u00a0to go\u00a0after\u00a0the\u00a0young women demographic.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0takeaway is if Hello Kitty is only for little girls, then why is Sanrio have\u00a0so\u00a0many collections\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0collaboration\u00a0aimed at Juniors and young women? \u00a0There are many\u00a0collaborations\u00a0I can\u00a0name\u00a0off the top of\u00a0my head,: Mac Cosmetics, Forever 21, Vans. \u00a0Now with the Kiss and\u00a0Street fighter\u00a0collaboration,\u00a0Sanrio\u00a0is\u00a0signaling\u00a0they are ready to make a play for the final frontier: The Male market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a response I posted on Hello Kitty Junkies over constant refrain older fans are hearing that Hello Kitty is Just for Little Girls.
