While I had\u00a0 fun at\u00a0 Hello Kitty\u2019s Supercute Friendship Festival, there is a dark cloud as I read the Facebook\u00a0 accounts.<\/p>\n

I guess \u201coperational\u00a0 reasons\u201d\u00a0 mean they were losing money and decide to cut their losses. It sad that more fans in North America will not\u00a0 see this wonderful event.\u00a0 I also feel \u00a0Vee\u00a0 and Sanrio going to get a Black eye how poorly\u00a0 they are handling the cancelation.<\/p>\n
In look back at \u00a0other\u00a0 stops for the Hello Kitty\u2019s Supercute\u00a0 Friendship\u00a0 Festival, \u00a0I see a pattern that \u00a0led to the shows \u00a0demise; the shows were \u00a0played \u00a0in arenas. It must be very expensive to rent\u00a0\u00a0 a coliseum or arena when Hello Kitty \u00a0doesn\u2019t have the draw\u00a0 like Ringling Brothers Circus, Disney on Ice and\u00a0 Monster Truck Jam. \u00a0\u00a0They would\u00a0 have to sell out to keep the show in the black.<\/p>\n
Even when Portland Oregon was announced as one of the stops , I had reservation in the back of my mind the tour would be successful. Portland and Seattle would make or break the Festival. \u00a0In Portland the show was struggling in Portland, as evidenced \u00a0by \u00a0the show\u00a0 tick were being sold at a discount.<\/p>\n
What Sanrio should\u00a0 had scaled down the show. For example Hello Kitty\u2019s Supercute Friendship Festival space could have easily\u00a0 fit part the exhibit hall\u00a0 of\u00a0 the nearby Oregon Convention center and possibly at a cheaper rate. They \u00a0could have scaled the show for\u00a0 smaller areas were the fan base \u00a0is not as large. Or a similar interactive event like Hello Kitty Labs or Black Wonder event.<\/p>\n
