The Con Kumoircon

The Place: Hilton and Red Lion Hotel Vancover Washington

The Dates 1^st though 3^rd September 2012

Komoroicon is a Oregon / SW Washington Anime convention, celebration its 10^th anniversary. This is my fifth year attending. My new big Hello Kitty plush accompanied me.

Friday Saturday:

I check in my badge Friday, unlike last year there were no pre-con events. I skipped out of the panelist meeting, and had my glitch with the Opening Ceremony. The room was filled to capacity and I only got in when a few seat opened up. They had us line up outside the hotel but did the count at the door. The staff should had done a count of the line and station the maid’s squad to mark the cutoff point instead of waiting in line just to learn they are not getting in. After Opening Ceremony I attended most of the Funamtion Industry panel then try to go the My Little Brony panel, to only find out it was packed. Gasping for air I left and took pictures. Noting an issue number of people I arranged for a last minute mike for my Otaku over 25 panel. I attended the Cosplaying parents before heading off to AMV show and contest.

At 8:00pm I did my Otaku over 25. Last year I had 35 attendees this year I had more than 50. I put in a solid performance but I could have done better. On problem was I realize I need to do all the work rather than posting on line for suggestions. I walked around the con area after dinner, darting in and out of the video rooms before heading home.

Two Weekends Two Cons and One More to Go.

I was a busy bear this weekend and the Labor day weekend. During the Labor Day weekend, I attended Kumoricon the three day Anime convention in Vancover Washington. The next weekend I attended Rose City Comic Con. The group for Rose City Comic Con want to bring a San Diego Comic Con style convention to Portland As far as attendance, they’re on very good footing. I took my big Kitty to both and took some pictures. I will share a few. My con report will be coming soon.

Next is to prepare for Rainfurrest.

Christian Furs: When It Became Time To Take Separate Paths.

In my last post I struggled with the problem of Christian furry fandom, lack of sound doctrine and how much involvement I should have in them. The issues is when the Christian group goes beyond what we have common in the love of anthropomorphism in art, literature and Fursuiting into ecclesiastical, doctrinal areas in the name of ministry. Minor differences I can tolerate but I have serious reservation when the group allow non believer to have the same authority in the group or scriptural authority is denied. To boil it down, I can be a furry, I am Christian, but I cannot be a Christian furry because then the question is who’s Christian, is it of Rome, Revivalism, modernism or the truth based on sound scriptural and reformed ideas as

Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone
Solus Christus – Christ Alone
Sola Gratia – Grace Alone
Sola Fide – Faith Alone
Soli Deo Gloria – The Glory of God Alone

and the Gospel as

All Children of Adam and Eve have Sinned (including me)
Romans 3:232. The Penalty of Sin is death bodily first then in hell
Roman 6:23

3. Jesus paid the penalty we accrued by his death on the cross
Romans 5:8

4.Justification before God is pure gift opposed to a matter of our works.
Ephesians 2:8-9

5.The assurance one is justified before God now and then forever
1 John 5: 12-13

Ore even the Nicene Creed.

I struggled to find and answer but I have none as such I feel my only choice is to take leave from Christian Furs and Furs for Christ . This is to say I not going to shun any Christian furs, I would love meet you have dinner or eve a joint project among Christian furs but I simply cannot be part of an organized group or event that clams to be Christian without serious and careful discernment . I will still be on Unicorn and Gryphon Pub, being the only Christian fur group that is exclusively focuses on fury rather than doctrine or current events. I will be at cons and fur meets and will hang out at secular furs sites like furtopia and the local PDX fur scene.

So with this I wish both Furs for Christ and Christian Furs well.

Faimly Fun Center Fur Meet 14 Jul 2012

On July 14, the Benton County group sponsored a furry get together at the Family Fun Center in Wilsonville, Oregon. We had a very good turnout an enjoyed a pizza feed , miniature gulf and getting all the fursuiters on the go cart course at the same time. (I need to work on the video)
