Goodbye Kitty

Donald Trump at campaign stop in New York promises to deport Hello Kitty if he becomes president. He said “she is an illegal Asian immigrant from Japan. That the Japanese demon cat takes millions of American dollars, attention and jobs and ship back to her master in Japan taking , attention and profit from Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, both  true American Icons. Americans should only support American cartoon characters.”

Mr. Trump had back down a bit when it was pointed Hello Kitty is not a cat and identifies herself as a little girl born and raised outside of London.

Hello Kitty fans around the world expressed outrage at Trumps Comments. The Hillary campaign sent out a press release decrying Trumps bigotry and insensitivity. Hillary supports Hello Kitty as a world icon and role model. No word from the Cruz Campaign.

Hello Transgender.

or Male Hello Kitty fans caught in the crossfire?

I been thing how transgender issue are  popping up in the media from Caitlyn Jenner to transgender bathrooms.  My concern is  how all this will impact male  Hello Kitty fans who are not transgender. Will we  be left alone or caught in the culture war’s crossfire. I would not be surprised that there  are transgender Hello Kitty fans but not all Male Hello Kitty fans are LGBT.  Just because one wears a Hello Kitty  shirt made of a female, carries a hello Kitty Backpack, or sports a Hello Kitty wallet does not  make that person transgender.  For many of us we like Hello Kitty but make do with items  marketed  to women because  the lack of  Hello Kitty Men’s items.

What brought this up was a post I received  on my Hello Kitty blog. This person chastised   me with a wall of text, call me a narcissist, selfish  arrogant because I had a Hello Kitty bag and  wallet  but does not referred  myself as transgendered.   I may know this person . This person   had came across as  very immature, unlike other transgender people  I met in life. This person cam across as a self  impose activist who  need to identify people to their pet case, regardless if the person likes it or not.

So if anything; guys in wearing or carrying any Hello Kitty items  does not make one  transgended.

My Interview with Small Gift Big Story podcast.

Two weeks ago I was interviewed  by  Saumeh and Marty of the  Small Gift Big  Story  podcast.  The pos cast is about  us fans of Sanrio and Hello Kitty and our love  and  stories. I am very honored  to be interview them and gave them  free run of my blogs for  pictures of the cons I took Hello Kitty and Chococat .  The podcast is now  up on soundcoud and  Itunes.

The  sound suffers because I use my phone and I talk to fast. I discuss  my motivation and love of Hello Kitty influenced  by both  my time in Japan and  my involvement   in the Furry Fandom. I hope I represented the fandom well.

Saumeh and Marty are neat people and Hello Kitty fans  the been interviewed by a major paper covering Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/kitty-festival-marks-character-40th-birthday-article-1.1989289

Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty

I went to  the  EMP mainly for Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty exhibit. I had been to the  EMP  museum in the past  when it was just Music and Science Fiction Hall of Fame.  The really  renovated  the museum  taking parts of  the Science  Fiction and music Exhibits and tuned  in to  a pop culture exhibit space including Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction,  Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic, Can’t Look Away: The Lure Of Horror Film and the Sea Hawks We Are 12 exhibit.  The sky Church screen stopped me in my tracks . The studio and interactive  music studio is still on the third floor.  What was supposed to be just a few hours for the Hello Kitty Exhibit turned into a all day event. Well worth the time.

My only gripe is the location of the Science Fiction Hall of fame, it should have a more dignified space.
