I Did It: I Cut the Pay TV Cord

I finally did it; I returned the Cable box and cut the pay TV cord. I realized after three months I have not turned on the cable TV box.

My reasons to ditch cable TV is are as follows. First is the insane cost for cable TV packages. For me, in my area, digital cable to get all the hot shows cost around  $60.00+ a month, yes I could get a deal but I will still paying $300 +  just to  look like  I am in the know  around the water cooler. I am trying to live within my means and cable TV is a budget killer.  Second reason is the quality of TV shows has gone downhill lately.  I use to like the shows on Scifi channel like Batlestar  Glatica  and Doctor Who, documentaries  on Discovery  and History channels. What I dislike is the rash of so called reality shows like the Amish Mafia, Fast and Loud, and all those stupid guns shows with the fake explosives. By the way I am proud to say I neither watched one episode of Duck Dynasty nor desired to do so.  I feel so call reality TV has dumb down television. Finally via the internet Netflix, Hulu, ITunes   and Crackle,   can watch the shows I want to watch when I want to watch and mostly commercial free.

So good by HD cable box, I hardly knew thee.

How to Secularize a “Christian” Institution

How to secularize our school system or legalize Gay marriage by a  few easy steps.

First delude oneself by believing America is a Christian nation.  One can do this my misquoting scripture to read American into the bible.   Start with John Winthrop twisting of Mathew 5:14; twisting scripture the light is not the Gospel but American exceptionalism. Build on this fallacy by reading America into Israel’s redemption Exodus.  Proclaim American   a Christian country even though one must ignore the lack of sound biblical support.

Second deny the   doctrine of total depravity and original sin.  Ignore and disregard scripture  that  shows we all  are dead in sin and trespasses  Roman 1: 16-32 and the natural man cannot obey  God nor  understand  spiritual things Ignore verses 1 Corinthians 2:14-16, and Romans 8:5-8.

Now the fun part,  in respect to the above step,  entrust  reprobate persons  in government  with  promoting , encouraging and providing benefits for marriage  and education while we are at it.

As a result  in 200 years be befuddled why sinful men  who you gave the keys of  institutions  of marriage and educations   twist the institutions  to be secular and hostile to Christianity  while  you still  vainly  try to win back culture for Christ  by you self righteousness and works while neglecting  proclamation   of the gospel to a sinful  world.

Now I am being  facetious but there is a important point to be made about culture: we Christians  share the blame for this current  gay marriage  mess by intrusting power to regulated marriage to a secular state on a false assumption America at any time  was a  Christian nation; that such nationalism cannot be found in Scripture.

Perhaps we need to lean we are not, and never was and never could be a Christian nation and need to get back proclaiming the Gospel.

(Not it the gospel is the power of salvation not politics nor  culture wars)

Statement on Boy Scouts Accepting (indoctrinated into) Homosexual Members

I am dead against the change, homosexually, and other form of sexually immorality fornication was incompatible to scouting ideals. My biggest concern this decision was made under duress as gay activist are putting a gun to scouting head. There been a long campaign of intimidation to get corporations to cut off funding to scouting and churches that host scouting troops.  It was reported in the Portland area an incident of vandalism of a church by a gay activist.

Now the Boy Scouts had made their decision I predict Scouting will break up similar as many of us left the Episcopal Church to start the Anglican Church in North America.  I guess we should have known culture has shifted and we need to break away from secular scouting and create a separate Christian organization in the first place especially after the atheist debate.

Let hope the Boy Scout can demonstrate more civility than the Episcopal Church.
