Sometimes the only way to deal with “Christian” relevance fail to lampoon it.

Both Live Journal and My fur network are down for 24 hours or more. This is why I mirror my blogs here.
Has Seeker Sensitive Churches Discover Furries: Relevance Fail
A site I like to go to is The Museum of Idolatry which exposes idiocy and utter failure of the seeker sensitive church. This is not The Onion, first there was Pole Dancing for Jesus now there is Painful to Watch, Relevance as quoted “In the never ending quest maintain relevance, the church is only spiraling down in to the abyss. This video, promoting small groups is a prime example.” What is concern to furries is 35 seconds (if you can last that long ) is the guy striking a pose with two guys dressed in cheesy costume shop animal costumes. The could try to get a few fursuiters, better they don’t. To whit.
I dread the day the seeker sensitive churches finds about attempt to pander to furries as another unchurched group they want to get in the door. In the old day some fundamentalist / revivalist pastor would rile against the “evils” of furry fandom; now today the same church will go into a tizzy over furries as an unchuch group and immediately call a meeting of the outreach ministry and buy a tail and ears for the youth pastor.
Some will say this would be good for both; I say is a sure road to mutually assured destruction. The problem with the seeker sensitive movement is in their attempt to be relevant, they those out sound biblical doctrine. Instead of preaching Christ and him crucified for our sin and the proclamation of repentance and forgiveness of sin, one most likely will hear therapeutic moralistic deitism with a side of foolishness. One can go to Fighting for the Faith (link below) and pick out any bad sermon. It why I had to leave the Baptist Church and return to my Anglican roots and deep in Reformed theology.
Sooner or later, I pray, never some sever sensitive pastor will do a furry themed sermon series, it the come for a few fursuiters and ask you to come: run away quickly.
Blog: Obama’s furry new plan unveiled in Pittsburgh
Blog: Obama’s furry new plan unveiled in Pittsburgh.
I got a kick that Osama’s speech was at the same Friday as Anthrocon.
“Not unlike Mr. Obama, furries don elaborate costumes in an attempt to draw attention to their fantasy alter-ego while concealing their true appearance. Of course these folks are engaging in a little harmless fun and they rarely if ever change costumes in order to continually pander (although some of them panda) to the gathered audience of the moment. A number of the furries waved at the Obama motorcade as it sped by on Friday.”
The irony is some furries organized themselves as Furries for Obama. Now one may laugh but it shows unlike our side Obama’s 2008 campaign was brilliant in that instead of telling who and how to reach, Obama told how and left the who visitor of his campaign site. The campaign went viral. Now I don not think there were ever a furry initiative in both Republican and Democrats camping headquarters. We can lean form Obama’s Campaign we in the GOP need to run a similar dynamic campaign

Con Report Wonder North West
The Con Wonder Northwest
The Place Crowne Plaza Hotel Portland Oregon
The Date 14-15 May 2001 (I attended only the 15th)
Wonder North West is a new Comic and pop culture expo in Portland. Not seeing much on the first day I only attend Sunday a decision I grew to regret by not going Saturday. Not much to say about panes except an interesting one on Pirate lore. Other than that it was more of a relax-a-con for me. I ran to may I seen at Kumoricon and Mewcon. I took Big Kitty around for the ride and she was a hit. The funniest thing I won a floor prize of volume one of the Stand Graphic Novel ; I only know because others kept on telling me.
The Good
The price only $6.00 a day or 10.00 for the weekend. The bet con value I ever head of.
Quality of the floor prizes; Wonder NW had some serious sponsorship.
Pirates: unrestrained costuming awesomeness.
Very good quality Con Book and swag bag, for a 6.00 a day convention this impressed me.
The Bad
Not enough panels, then again I let it slide for being a first year small con
Not going Saturday.
Overall this one is a gem and has some serious potential as a multi-genre convection.
