Furlandia and the MTV controversy Part Two

The Media or should I say sex, lies and digital shooting

As it reported (see comments) the entertainment had pulled the plug on the Portland Furlandia shoot, but search around it seem there still keeping the project going on I noting the on Twitter they still asking for furries for True Life episode.

I had talked to those who ran the convention and look around at other post; there are two reasons I heard why the shoot was pulled. First the media company did not like the restriction the Furlandia placed on the media company and second we were boring. There were plenty of good positive footage on furries but it was not the hook they wanted: the wild and craze yfiff in fursuits angle of CSI, Sex 2k …..  Nuka of Taboo episode chimed in with similar comments how the Produces of National Geographic Taboo could not get  the excitement they were looking   for after  four days of shooting.

So what do I get from all of this. As I said before, the media are not there to tell your story, the media is there to find somebody to fit theirs.  Second being boring and showing the furry fandom is nothing like how the internet and CSI portrays us as a defense against media bias, but the media will just move on down the food chain to they get their person.   Finally to the media, if you really want to know is join us attend out meets you realize we are neither like the internet nor what the creators of CSI makes us out to be. Do you home work first and if you insist on bias then   I will be watching and will call you to the mat.

Update: hold the presses, they really did not mean they pulled the plug on project they only pulled the plug on the Furlandia shoot. Even after claiming they pulled the plug, the producer   Alex Shaw was on  twitter still looking for furries.

So what does say about her claim on Flayrah wanting “I ALWAYS look to tell a good, balanced story”, If that’s was true then why drop the Furlandia shoot?  Why the vague deceptions and appeal to definitions.  I believe the produce is trying  slip down the furry food chain to find  the person that fists   the shows  preconceptions  of the fandom. The media company want to tell our story they should have used the Furlandia shoot and show we just a bit mundane and perhaps a bit boring.  I have a lot doubts of  MTV and producer’s honesty  and I have history on my side; how many times we furs  heard some reporter or producer wanting to tell our story and end up having the shoot  used  against and damaging the image of the fandom.

Furlandia and the MTV controversy Part One

Part 1 my statement

I was there and yes there were a few glitches. I disagree with total $6 dollar figure I also put in $5.00 on Saturday. I did have a lot of problem with programming, I did not get my schedule for many panel until I got my con book. Sibe was some concern, as much I did not want Furlandia to become another Foxmas, but he seems to have very little effect on the convention was a non issue.

Now as for MTV or should I say Viacommix, Like others, I did not know about the  filming  until opening ceremony; there were sections for those who did and did not want to be video for the project. We who were videoed had singed releases and Saphy had provided an email address of anybody had second thoughts.

Sadly I had pulled out not as much as MTV but I serous spooked by the potential furry drama storm being afraid I would be drag down with everybody else. I wonder my note was received knowing I had my giant Hello Kitty with me and I would have to contact and advise Sanrio Inc. USA on the shoot. Alas, it all mot now because the producer had pulled the plug on the project    I am only sad the Viacommix is out of $1000 dollars that the donated to charity as part of the deal with Furlandia.

But there one thing I agreed and disagree with Aloha Wolf, comment at closing ceremony. I agree we need to get the message of the fandom out to the public but disagrees as pro life, former Christian Fundamentalist, former cultural conservative and republican volunteer I seen how the main stream media, first hand, how they can twist the most positive spin into a big negative. We need to take a tactic like conserve media and create our own channels to inform the public not relying on mainstream media.

Furry Convention of Unacceptable Adults’ Scars One Hotel Guest’s Cheerleading Children for Life

Something is rotten in the state of Media.
This reminds me about Northern California Volleyball Association flap.
Except for an inflammatory title, Gaker waste of broadband by regurgitating other site’s stories.
As for TonyA there is something rotten about it. According to another article Tony A had made the complaint in January 2013 for a stay in Feb 2012. The event checks out there was a cheer event on the same weekend of Furry Fiesta but I note no con report noting any interacting between those going to the cheer event and Fury Fiesta.
“A customer known as Tony A. left a review on TripAdvisor about his experience at the Crowne Plaza North Dallas-Addison when the furry convention was in town. Tony A. claims they stayed at the hotel in February 2012, but they did not post the review until January 2013. The question is
http://www.travelerstoday.com/articles/4997/20130225/guest-leaves-scathing-review-texas-hotel-holding-furry-convention-video.htm”
Second thing Travel advisor has removed his comments; probably they are so inflammatory; The of his charges are very vague.
“First of all, I like to bring up the ineptitude of the groups department on scheduling a Furry Convention of unacceptable adults, along with a young girls and boys cheerleading team. The things that our children (ages 4-17) witnessed there, are the kinds of things that we as parents hate to even think that they would be exposed to. My 10 year old daughter and my 8 year old son witnessed lude and lascivious behavior in the pool, outside by these furry people.”
“These “people” if I can call them that [My comment: argumentum ad hominem], were doing unspeakable things [comment: very vague does not give concrete examples] outside on the hallways and in their rooms with their doors open.”
“I am not sure if you folks know what a Furry Rave is. A regular rave is a party where folks dance, drink, party and do their drugs. A regular rave would have been unacceptable then. A Furry Rave included more lude and lascivious behavior, along with the other factors included in a regular rave. That is not only unacceptable for a guest, it should have been unacceptable to this hotel. How did I find out all of these details about this “rave” and what these furry conventions are about? GOOGLE!!!!! How hard is it for someone to do a little due diligence before they schedule something like this? This research took me 5 MINUTES to do. How do these people schedule these two groups together????”
Tony is going to bases his incendiary comment on five minuet search on Goggle. He was at the con hotel. He could at least provide some evidence. By the way I have attended Furry, Anime, Science Fiction, Comiccon, and multi-Genre fan conventions, they a have raves and there is just people dancing. No lewd activity, no drugs. Just a lot of dancing, Techno and Dub step
So what we have the worst case of Sports /Event Helicopter parents, the type who lives insufficient narcissistic lives through their children, pushing their kids where it almost child abuse and pushing everybody else out of the way. That or ether, noting the vagueness and lateness of the complaint, this is an example of social network extortion, the person blackmails the business by threatening to leave a bad reviews less they get freebees and favorable treatment.

Northern California Volleyball Association has to share Boohoo

Northern California Volleyball Association can get any respect. This time around they have to share space with HempCon 2012, San Jose’s medical marijuana. Now I can understand not wanting break bread with a bunch of pot heads. (That my feeling about medical marijuana outside established clinical uses think medical clinic and hospital under strict control). What caught my attention is their distain and ignorance of furry fandom “

“This weekend stirred up uncomfortable memories for Skov of the most recent Northern California Volleyball Association tournament at the convention center in January. The place was overrun with “furries” — people who dress in animal costumes — at FurCon. “First we had the fuzzy people, now we have HempCon,” Skov said. “Come on, San Jose! What’s happening?””

“The same thing happened in January when the NCVA learned it would share the convention center with FurCon. “Some of the other parents told me they had checked into it and found things that made it out to be basically a porn fetish convention,” said D’Aquino, who conceded his knowledge of furries is based on an episode of television’s “CSI.””

There two problems I have, unwillingness for the Volleyball group to share and a hideous mischaracterization of furries.  Frankly if Volleyball group doesn’t like it they can go elsewhere.  The so call adults in the group can find a few university campuses  play in.  Unlike  pot con Having a furry con next-door   is no difference in sexuality as would be an  Anime convention instead and illegal drug uses is not tolerated at both furry and anime convention   Now aside for Mr.  D’Aquino’ s demonstration his inability to tell reality for TV,  there another kicker.  Middle and High school students   are growing demographic in the furry fandom.  I been seeing more 13 to 17 year olds students are joining Furtopia, an all ages G rated furry community.  Therefore it conceivable some of your players and siblings are furies.

.  Giving the choice HempCon or Further Confusion, I say you daughter Mr.  D’Aquino is safer at a fur con. In addition I think Confusion my want to give San Jose the heave ho and find more fur friendly waters just like Athocon and Pittsburg.

Original Story Here

Me in 35 years

Often I cruise the net for news concerning items that fit my interest. On search concerning Men who keep stiffed animals, I found this comment:

“I sell stuffed toys for a charity, and the vast majority of buyers are people of (ahem) middle-age or older.

Last year I called a gentleman who was in his late eighties. He had been supporting the charity for many, many years and in fact had bought over thirty of our teddy bears. So I asked whether he had given the toys away to family and friends as gifts, and he laughed.

“Bugger off”, he said, “they’re MY teddies. You might think I’m a mad old codger, but nobody gets their hands on my bears until I’m six-foot under”.

So maybe you’re never too old.”
