Hello Kitty Supercute Festival Cancelation

The mystery deepens

“Alas, the tour went kaput. A spokeswoman says VEE, the company overseeing the festival, decided not to continue with the fall/holiday leg. VEE “was acquired just as the tour launched; the new ownership had a different vision for the organization,” she says.”

All  along was it VEE intention to walk away from the tour?  Sanrio at times  misses when picking  partners for collaborations .They are great for retail products like Tokidoki   and Loungefly, but  miss the mark  when it came to game like Aiea games for Hello Kitty Online and  VEE corporation for  Supercute  Festival. What puzzling is why, VEE does the  Sesame Street traveling  shown, that attract the same number as the Hello Kitty Supercute  Festival but  Hello Kitty  is not.  Is it because Vee doesn’t care to do interactive shows but prefer higher per show attendance volume stage shows?

Over all Sanrio made a poor choice partnering with VEE.  Still we can hope Sanrio  can fine a new partner or push it to Sanrio Entertainment.

Hello Kitty is Not a Cat, So What!

The media making  a big  whoop de doo over the fact  Hello Kitty is not a cat but a perpetual little girl and British third grader.  This is something we fan knew  all the time. It true she is around nine year old but in other manifestations she is protruded as an adult   for example  Momobery and Playboy collaborations .  If one  wants to get  technical, she is a  anthropomorphic   cartoon little girl, a furry. That is how this member of the furry subculture  got into collecting  Hello Kitty items.

Hello Kitty Back in Space: Hitches a Ride on the Hodoyoshi-3 satellite

Hello Kitty is back in space orbiting on  Hodoyoshi-3 satellite as part of Hello Kitty 40th anniversary, Sanrio took part of the  Hodoyoshi-3 satellite by sending up a 4 cm Hello Kitty figure  with other cameras and experiments.   Already Sanrio has already released a picture on their Japanese website and  a series of videos.

A short  news story was released here, but I am a bit miffed why this has not gotten more attention, I guess it did not  have a young 12 year girl running the mission.

Ongoing is a contest by Sanrio to select  and broadcast ten  10 messages from fans aboard the Hodoyoshi-3 satellite. You can find information and the contest entry form here.

Sadly this a one way trip for the Hello Kitty figure, eventually the figure will deorbit  and bun up depending on the altitude of the satellite or spend years orbiting the earth.
