The event: Hello Kitty’s  Supercute Friendship  Festival

The Place Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland Oregon

The time: 31 July to  2 Aug  2015;  100pm Session.

 

Hello Kitty’s  Subercute Friendship Festival is touring North America until end of this mounts.   There were five sessions available , I selected the 1:00pm to 5:00pm. I  started at 1:00pm because I bought a ticket for the Red Bow premium package. This includes and exclusive photo op with Hello Kitty, one hour early entry, ( the main events did not start until  2:00pm and lasted to  5:00pm), and early shopping  time.

Hello Kitty Back in Space: Hitches a Ride on the Hodoyoshi-3 satellite

Hello Kitty is back in space orbiting on  Hodoyoshi-3 satellite as part of Hello Kitty 40th anniversary, Sanrio took part of the  Hodoyoshi-3 satellite by sending up a 4 cm Hello Kitty figure  with other cameras and experiments.   Already Sanrio has already released a picture on their Japanese website and  a series of videos.

A short  news story was released here, but I am a bit miffed why this has not gotten more attention, I guess it did not  have a young 12 year girl running the mission.

Ongoing is a contest by Sanrio to select  and broadcast ten  10 messages from fans aboard the Hodoyoshi-3 satellite. You can find information and the contest entry form here.

Sadly this a one way trip for the Hello Kitty figure, eventually the figure will deorbit  and bun up depending on the altitude of the satellite or spend years orbiting the earth.

Annual Sanrio Character Ranking Results Are In – It’s an Upset

One would think being her 40th anniversary   Hello Kitty would be a shoe in for the top spot; but for the 29th Sanrio Character ranking first place goes to My Melody with 79,235 votes, Second  is Hello Kitty with  respectful 72,951, 7.9% off  the leader. The Little  Twins Stars come in Third   with a distant  50,323 votes.

No with  a large  showing of votes could Sanrio  get the  hint fans want  more My Melody items? I still waiting for 20inch + My Melody  and Batz Maru plush.

Every Year or so Sanrio runs a character ranking contest  where fans can for  their favorite Sanrio character,
