Ham Radio Fun Update APRS Decoder C++

What to do  while unemployed ? Answer,  Program  and app to decode ham radio APRS packet (Automatic Packet Reporting System) in C++  .  Time for an update.  The  upper  left window  is putty  is  Dire Wolf running on a Raspberry Pi,  decoding  APRS packet from  my radio. The bottom left is my application  in action decoding packet data  from  dire wolf via virtual serial port : it shows  the Raw AX25 packet (Raw Kiss hex), then the  packet ID  byte,  decodes source address -> destination address , SSI D,  and digi repeater address.  The rest   shows  the rest of the packet in ASCII  and hex  for future development and debugging  packet decoding  functions .  as you can see  the status  message “Packet Type >” is almost  decoded.

Next phase to develop the functions to decode the position and  telemetry data.

Ann Coulter,  the conservative  commentator, dropped a bombshell by calling  the brave missionaries who are  following  Christ   Great  Commission   Idiotic. I think this sums it up

Giving up posting replys

Recently I was on eham.net and we had one of the typical back in my day, real hams do [blank], test is to easy, ham radio trolling post. This reply nailed it especially the recent debate on my timeline.

“Most forum readers lack the ability to focus their attention
to read with understanding beyond one or two sentences.
Once you hit three, they become irritated at the need
to minimally think. This inability/unwillingness forces them
to consider their vacuous existence for a moment.
Thereafter, they will go one of three ways:

The 80% will make-up some smart-ass remark that
makes them feel better about themselves for a few seconds.

The next 5% will actually read your post, consider it and
make a reasoned reply.

The smartest 15% will realize that discussion is futile
and go do something else”

I am in the 5% to 15% range. I no longer feel the need to reply on stories on web sites, forums and news site and limit replies elsewhere and use the unfollow option (but still friend) on facebook.

Time Flies When You Are Getting Old

I did not realize it until Monday, 30 years ago on July 1984, I step off a plane on my way to Yokosuka Japan where my ships USS Reeves (CG-24) and USS Midway (CV-41) were home ported . They were the best years of my life. My fellow shipmates could never understand why I did not want to go home during my leave. Simply I was overseas and want to see it all.
I made a special dinner of Tonkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlet) for dinner; it was probably my first meal in Japan.
