The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

Psalm 14:1-7

English Standard Version (ESV)

The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

14 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”     They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,     there is none who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,     to see if there are any who understand,     who seek after God.

They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;     there is none who does good,     not even one.

Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers     who eat up my people as they eat bread     and do not call upon the Lord?

There they are in great terror,     for God is with the generation of the righteous. You would shame the plans of the poor,     but the Lord is his refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!     When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,     let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

Happy Thanksgiving

[New York, 3 October 1789]

By the President of the United States of America. a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor–and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.” Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be–That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks–for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation–for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed–for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted–for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions–to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually–to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed–to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness onto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord–To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us–and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New-York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Thanksgiving for One: a Turkey I am not going to Serve

For the second time in a row I am going to spend Thanksgiving by myself. According to the internet talking heads,  I should:

  1. Beg a family to take me.
  2. Grovel and mourn how alone I am
  3. Go out for dinner
  4. Eat turkey hotdogs  or turkey hamburger

My answer: forget about the talking heads, I am cooking a bird for myself, the whole bird.

Left get one thing straight family is optional. Look a George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

Can anybody show me any requirement to be with family or somebody else to   “acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor”?

Just because I am alone does not mean one can’t enjoy the holiday in style with a traditional turkey dinner. I have a ten pounder; I will have plenty of turkey for leftovers, soup, sandwiches and casserole.

Pagan Silliness

A friend had share this cartoon with me.

My reply as follows

Now as for the Doctor Who reference, I have to laugh at one can compare Doctor Who; we know   100% that existed only in the sheets of a script to the living savior who was seen by Cephas the Apostils and by 500 or more brethren.

1 Corinthians 15:1-6

Then there’re other witness includes hostile witnesses who opposed Christianity like Nero and some of the Jewish leaders.  Then we know many keep players in Jesus history existed like Pontius Pilate and Herod the Great, and Herod Antipas.  Compared to Christianity has anybody ever seen proof of Sontarans or a Catkind?

I do not care for American evangelicalism: with (have you  [insert [ made Your  peace ] and or  [accepted Jesus]]  and do not get me state about sharing  my personal testimony because it distract us from the Gospel.  The Gospel is not about our insufficient   attempts of works righteousness but we are dead in sin yet God in his mercy sent Christ who died   for our sin the righteous for the unrighteous and calling us to repentance and forgiveness for sin though Christ.

Of course we know the real reason for the opposition.

1 Corinthians 2: 14-16

Romans 8: 5-8
